League Structure

The Del Boca Vista Pickleball League is designed to offer competitive and fun play for all skill levels. It follows the dynamic format inspired by Major League Pickleball (MLP). Our league emphasizes team spirit, strategic gameplay, and the unique excitement of Pickleball, all wrapped in a vibrant, retro Miami atmosphere.

Divisions: The league is divided into multiple divisions based on player skill levels to ensure fair competition:

  • Premier Division: For advanced players with a DUPR rating of 4.0 and above.

  • Challenger Division: For intermediate players with a DUPR rating between 3.0 and 3.99.

  • Social Division: For recreational players looking for a fun, casual experience, with a DUPR rating below 3.0.

Team Composition: Each team has 4 players (2 men and 2 women). Teams are encouraged to build a roster that complements various gameplay strategies, ensuring a balanced and competitive match experience.

Match Format: Matches are structured to maximize excitement and strategic play:

  • Match Types: Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

  • Game Format: Matches are played to 21 points using rally scoring. The first team to reach 21 points, winning by at least 2, takes the game.

  • DreamBreaker™: A unique tiebreaker round will be played if teams are tied after all matches. All players participate in a rotational skinny-singles format to determine the winner.

Season Structure: The league operates in a seasonal format, with each season spanning approximately 10-12 weeks:

  • Regular Season: Teams compete in a round-robin format within their division.

  • Playoffs: The top teams from each division advance to the playoffs, culminating in a Championship match to determine the season's victor.

  • Promotion/Relegation: Teams that perform exceptionally well may be promoted to a higher division, while lower-performing teams may face relegation to a lower division for the next season.

Scheduling: Matches are scheduled weekly, with home and away teams responsible for coordinating game times. If a match cannot be played during the originally proposed dates, it must be rescheduled to the following week.

Player Eligibility: To ensure fair play and competitiveness:

  • Minimum Matches: Players must participate in at least one regular-season match to be eligible for the playoffs.

  • Substitutes: Teams may use 1 or 2 substitutes if necessary, but must adhere to the skill level and division guidelines.

Code of Conduct: The league emphasizes good sportsmanship, respect for all players, and adherence to league rules. Any violations may result in penalties or suspension from the league.
